Portrait

Dr. Kanwarpreet Singh is a researcher, academician and research administrator engaged in research and teaching in geotechnical engineering, engineering geology, disaster mitigation & management, and Remote Sensing & GIS applications. He graduated from the Guru Nanak Dev Engineering College in Ludhiana, Punjab, India with his B.Tech in Civil Engineering and M.Tech in Geotechnical Engineering; and received his Ph.D. from the National Institute of Technology (NIT) in Hamirpur, Himachal Pradesh, India, with a dissertation theme on landslide hazard assessment and mitigation in the Middle Himalayan region of Himachal Pradesh. Dr Singh has published over 75 research papers in well recognized international journals and conference proceedings and has presented his research at several national and international conferences. He has successfully mentored Ph.D. scholars and supervised approximately 30 postgraduate dissertations, and has mentored undergraduate project groups. His research focuses are landslide susceptibility and risk assessment, geospatial technologies, disaster mitigation and management, geotechnical engineering, engineering geology, sustainable infrastructure and the use of artificial intelligence and machine learning in geosciences. Dr. Singh has been honored with numerous awards for his research and academic work such as “Best Researcher Award”. He has extensively studied the Indian Himalayan Region including landslide hazard assessment, slope stability analysis, geospatial modelling and mitigation strategies. He is an Editorial Board Member of several well-reputed journals and reviews several journals. Dr. Singh has 12 plus years of experience in teaching, research and academic leadership and currently holds the position of Director Research at Bahra Research Innovation & Knowledge Cluster (BRIKC), Rayat Bahra University, Greater Mohali–140103, Punjab, India. For these purposes, he leads missions of institutional research and innovation, encourages inter-disciplinary cooperation, enhances industry–academic relationships, supports externally funded research projects, mentors researchers and facilitates research excellence and innovation capacity building activities across the University.

Professor (Dr.) Ravi Kumar Sharma is a senior faculty member in the Department of Civil Engineering at the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Hamirpur, Himachal Pradesh, India. He completed his Ph.D. in Soil Dynamics from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee, India in 1999. Prof. Sharma has been associated with NIT Hamirpur since 1986 and has contributed extensively to the field of geotechnical engineering. His areas of expertise include soil dynamics, foundation engineering, landslide hazard zonation, slope stability, and soil stabilization techniques. Over the years, he has guided several doctoral and postgraduate students, including research on topics such as landslide hazard assessment in the Himalayan region and innovative approaches for improving expansive soils. He has also held important administrative positions at NIT Hamirpur, including serving as Dean. Prof. Sharma has been actively involved in research, consulting, and development projects that address geotechnical challenges in mountainous terrains, particularly in the Himalayan region. His dedication to teaching, research, and fieldwork has made him a respected academic and practitioner in civil engineering.

Dr. Shamshad Alam is an accomplished Assistant Professor in the Civil and Architectural Engineering Department at Jazan University, Saudi Arabia, specializing in Geotechnical Engineering. With a PhD in Geotechnical Engineering, his research primarily focuses on the development of sustainable geomaterials, aiming to provide eco-friendly, cost-effective solutions for geotechnical applications. Dr. Alam is passionate about advancing sustainable practices in the field of construction and soil engineering, particularly through the development of innovative materials that mitigate environmental impact. Having authored more than 15 research articles in peer-reviewed journals, Dr. Alam is recognized as an emerging expert in his field. His work has contributed significantly to the advancement of sustainable geomaterials and their practical applications in infrastructure projects. In recognition of his outstanding contributions to the field, Dr. Alam was honored with the prestigious Young Geotechnical Engineer Award in both 2019 and 2020, highlighting his leadership and potential within the Geotechnical engineering community.
