Portrait

Baidik Bhattacharya is Associate Professor of English at the Centre for the Study of Developing Societies. He is the author of the much-acclaimed book Postcolonial Writing in the Era of World Literature: Texts, Territories, Globalizations (2018). His works have appeared in some of the leading journals of our times: Critical Inquiry, New Literary History, Boundary 2, Modern Philology, Interventions, Postcolonial Studies, among others.

Prathama Banerjee is a historian and a political theorist. She studies the career of political ideas and concepts in India – as they emerge in the cusp of philosophy, religion, history, and literature and across the ancient, medieval, and modern periods. She has recently published Elementary Aspects of the Political: Histories from the Global South. Her earlier work was on the Politics of Time, in which she looked at the emergence of the modern discipline of history in colonial Bengal from an encounter with 'peoples without history' – tribes, aborigines, primitives.
