Ten years ago, two buses carrying high school students on a field trip crashed into a canyon in Tennessee. Only nine children survived the fatal crash, and their lives were changed forever.
The first anniversary of the tragic event is marked by the suicide of one of the students on the fatal trip. The remaining survivors decide to gather once a year, in an isolated house on the Outer Banks. They make a promise that keeps them together in the years to come: to support each other but not to forget their responsibilities.
On the tenth anniversary, Cassidy Bend feels ready to cut ties with the others so she can distance herself from the tragedy. However, on the day of the annual meeting, which she has decided not to attend for the first time, she learns that another member of the group has died. Driven by grief, but also by a strong concern, Cassidy rushes to the meeting, only to discover, first of all, that something is not quite right this year: Amaya, the leader of the group, has mysteriously disappeared.
The anxiety about her fate grows as a severe storm approaches, threatening to raise the water level and leave them stranded in the area. Faced with the disaster and an unseen threat, essentially trapped in a trap house, everyone is forced to decide whether to save others or themselves, thus betraying the oath that binds them.
