This Kingdom Will Not Kill Me

This Kingdom Will Kill Me follows Maggy, who suddenly finds herself inside the world of her favourite book. Sounds like a dream, right? Well… not quite. Instead of waking up in this perfect fantasy world where everything goes her way, Maggy actually has to work for her place in this world and slowly make her way up the ranks. (It does help that she knows things about almost everyone bc she had read the books so many times) Honestly, that was one of my favourite things about the story. I loved the progression of the plot and especially Maggy’s character development. I really appreciated that she wasn’t immediately handed everything just because she knew the story. She actually had to figure things out, prove herself and earn her place, which made her journey so much more interesting to follow. I also ended up falling in love with so many of the characters and their individual stories. There were definitely moments where the MMC got on my nerves, and I have to admit that some parts of the romance felt a little random to me and i would've been fine with even less of it. Since the romance is already more of a subplot, though, it didn’t take away too much from the joy of the story for me. Overall, I had such a fun time reading this book. I loved watching Maggy grow, seeing how the story unfolded and getting to know all the different characters. There were definitely some things that didn’t work perfectly for me, but I was invested enough that I already can’t wait to see what happens next. I’m absolutely ready for the next part!

If you ever wished to wake up in your favourite fantasy novel, but then realised how violent and cruel life within them is, then this book is for you! The premise of the book is really intruiging: Maggie wakes up in the city of Kair Toren, a very familar place and the setting ofher favourite books. She doesn't know how she got there but she soon realises that she has all the information she needs to know what will happen in the books and tries to prevent terrible events from happening. Throughout the book I waited for the moment where the story finally completely caught my attention, but it didn't come. The story is fine but didnt really surprise me. The characters are well written, but I personally find them not so intresting.
