Boom Boom Bang

Fiona moves back into her old home town, now she's the local doctor though and not everyone is happy she left and stayed away as long as she did.. Especially when she starts showing up the local town hall meetings and agrees with the development plans most people seem to hate. Especially Tre is annoyed with her - he never left the town, completed an education for a background in construction but ended up choosing to keep his grandmother's diner alive in the end.. And now he's watching Fiona support ideas to destroy the local flora and fauna for tourist hotspots, after she didn't even care enough about the place to stay there. Things don't quite turn out to be as they seem though when Tre decides to take matters into his own hands and goes out to sabotage construction on the new developments.. And meets Fiona who is busy placing a bomb in it herself. I loved this book. Giggled and kicked my feet, enjoyed it front to back. The story is great, the confusion between the two is just fun, watching the romance unfold, having to wait for feelings to be accepted, realized even, the sneaking around to not raise any suspicion.. And that on top of the sneaking we're already doing because we're bombing the place! I had a great time. This was just fun to read and such a happy, upbeat story too - if you're ever looking for something to get you excited to get back into reading, this is it, absolutely. The plot itself is the exact mix of crazy and fun that I didn't even know I wanted until I got it and then couldn't get enough of - and the romance on top is added so well into it, things just felt like a natural development. The crazy definitively outweighed a lot of times but hey, we're doing things for a good reason here and even Batman had a happy ending, there's really nothing to hate. I really enjoyed how the story stayed serious enough to make sense, while of course being unhinged and wild.. And sexy. Especially that last one makes quite the surprise entry, which just made things that much more fun. The ending was great too, I really feel like it was placed exactly where it needed to be, and the story was finished just perfectly. The kind of ending that leaves you wanting more but not because you feel like the story just isn't over, no, just because you want to stay with the characters for just a little bit longer.. The spicier part of the book wasn't really my favourite though - I guess I'm really not into chocolate sauce. Plus, there were scenes where things just didn't quite make sense.. But overall I really did enjoy the placement in the book, again things developed naturally and nothing is better than a love story that might as well be a real one.. I really loved that, especially through all the ups and downs, the slow build up.. Very well done. There's two point of views, Fiona and Tre, and two authors, so the female point of view is actually written by a woman and his was done by a man, which was a really cool idea - and it worked so well in this book! The writing styles mixed nicely, and you always had a feeling of who you were following because of the differences between the two, which I really appreciate. I also loved how both perspectives bring the story forward, they both add new things, new thoughts and actions and I couldn't even pick a favourite to follow because both were fun! And just because I also wanted to mention them - all the chapters were titled, but in a really creative way, kind of blending two sayings together to just give you a preview of things to come and I really liked picking them apart as a fun little special on top. Overall, I had a great time and I'm so happy this is part of a trilogy because I really want more of this exact type of book. And to think the story is actually based on real events! Cherry on top.
