In 1955, the CIA acquired and classified the photographic results of the 1931 Aeroarctic expedition, in which the German airship Graf Zeppelin surveyed the Soviet Arctic. This Nimble Ultra edition reproduces the complete declassified CIA document with AI-generated scholarly apparatus including historical context, abstracts, glossary, and comprehensive indexes.
The 1931 expedition brought together an international team of scientists aboard the legendary airship LZ 127 Graf Zeppelin to conduct aerial surveys of Franz Josef Land and Novaya Zemlya. The resulting photographs and cartographic data were of such strategic value that the CIA classified them during the Cold War. This edition presents the full declassified document alongside modern contextual analysis.
