ulia is a Can-Do Kid, but not every day feels like a can-do day. On her way to school, she admits to her dad that she's scared to try watercolors in art class. With his gentle encouragement, Julia learns that it's okay to feel nervous about new things-as long as she gives them her best try. In art class, Julia paints her favorite animal, a tiger, but quickly becomes discouraged when her picture doesn't look as good as her friend Caroline's. That evening, her dad reminds her that trying something new doesn't have to be perfect the first time. Meanwhile, Caroline faces her own challenge at gymnastics when she attempts the uneven bars for the first time. The next day, the girls discover they were both scared to try something new. Julia shares her dad's advice, and Caroline finds the courage to try again. When she succeeds, she can't wait to thank Julia for helping her be brave. Set in the cheerful town of Harmonyville, this heartwarming story teaches young readers that bravery isn't about being fearless-it's about trying, even when you're scared.
