I was so happy when a friend gifted me a copy of this book! I’ve been following Gisele Stein (formerly Gesa Neitzel) for quite some time, and she knew I’d been waiting for the next chapter in the Pyre Song trilogy. What can I say? It’s a brilliant sequel. This time, the journey takes us to the African wilderness, and the way the author describes the landscape is just breathtaking—you can tell she knows and loves the wild. Alva’s struggle to heal and Ember’s fight in prison are so well-written and emotional. It’s dark, atmospheric, and full of secrets. It's rare that a second book lives up to the first, but this one definitely does. If you love urban fantasy with a lot of heart and a global setting, you should definitely check this out. It’s the perfect gift for any book lover!
