On the topic of the book "The Responsibility of the State and the Church", the spiritual fathers and evangelical fathers to the reform movement's senior scholars gave the following views: constitutionalism and limited government power... Freedom of conscience for social transformation... Human rights and related issues... Government opposition from the perspective of spiritual fathers and evangelicals scholars... The capitalist and socialist systems and the Bible... The church founded by Korean immigrants in America and the contribution of its members to the development of their country and nation... The way in which the state should help the church... The situation in which the gospel can serve as a standard for external righteousness or justice... The responsibilities expected of the church in major continental and national conflicts... The government's cooperation with the church in implementing things that lead to moral degradation and corruption among the people... Prepare a half-page summary for the book publication on these issues.n addition, the book stresses that authentic reform requires the church to maintain prophetic distance from political power while remaining actively engaged in public moral reasoning. It argues that when the church becomes dependent on state favor, it loses its capacity to confront injustice and sin with credibility. Drawing from patristic and evangelical sources, the authors emphasize that obedience to God precedes loyalty to any political system or ideology. The gospel's influence on public life is presented as formative rather than coercive, shaping consciences, laws, and institutions indirectly through transformed people.
The volume also highlights the danger of confusing national identity with Christian identity, warning that such conflation undermines both the universality of the church and the moral limits of the state. It affirms that during times of war, revolution, or ethnic conflict, the church bears responsibility to protect human life, speak for the oppressed, and restrain vengeance. Government collaboration with religious institutions is evaluated by its moral fruit, not its efficiency or popularity. Where policies promote corruption, injustice, or moral decay, the church is called to resist, not accommodate. Ultimately, the book calls for a renewed covenant of responsibility in which both church and state serve the common good under God's moral order.
