    Fun moments, frustrating plot

The premise sounded really intriguing, and I did have fun with parts of this book. Unfortunately, it also felt quite draggy and, at times, just boring. A big issue for me was how predictable the main plot became. A lot of it followed the same pattern: Bri finds something out, there’s a plot twist, Luke lies about something, she finds out again, and then there’s another plot twist. After a while, it just started to feel repetitive and honestly a little annoying. There were also quite a few plot holes, and what bothered me the most was how convenient everything was. Whenever something dangerous happened, I never really felt like the characters were actually in danger because there was always some convenient solution appearing out of nowhere. And this happened over and over again. I understand that you want to save your characters, but when everything is so convenient, it takes away all the tension for me. I just couldn’t take the dangerous moments or plot twists seriously anymore. The road trip itself was fine, and the romance was alright. What I did enjoy was the banter between Luke and Bri. Their dynamic was genuinely funny and probably my favorite part of the book. I also liked Bri as a character. She’s caring, values her friendships, and doesn’t back down easily. And I really appreciated the queer representation throughout the book. Unfortunately, everything else fell a bit flat for me, and some of the writing choices started to annoy me. There were definitely things I liked, but overall, this book just wasn’t for me.
