Break the Rule

„Break the Rule“ is my favourite book in the series yet! It is an emotional rollercoaster but oh how much it was worth it. It spoke to the parts of me that feel like I’m never enough but at the same time always too much. The abandonment but simultaneous commitment issues Eden has and the excessive use of „fuck“ endeared him so much to me. Charlie and Eden. How does one describe them? They’re messy, loud, chaotic, imperfect people but so perfect for each other and quickly became two of my favourite characters. Charlie is such a sweetheart and the way he cares for Eden and respects his boundaries is fantastic. He is so patient with him but also tries to pull him out of his comfort zone step by step. And the way he just gets so lost in his work and loses all sense of time is so relatable and I loved seeing his passion. Eden has issues. So many issues. But his journey to realising that they don’t define him, and that they don’t make him broken beyond repair or unlovable, is just so wonderful to witness. I just want to give him a big hug and tell him he’s so loved and so worth it. And I love how he is unapologetically himself, despite having been hurt because of it in the past. His friendship with Andrew is also one of my favourite aspects of the book and I hope we’ll get to see even more of it in the next book. One of my favourite aspects of this series as a whole is the sibling relationship we see among the King brothers. As someone who is an only child and thus has never experienced anything like it, I love exploring these types of relationships through books. Especially the relationship between Charlie and Andrew ist so precious and I can’t wait to see more of them in Andrew‘s book. Compared to the other books, this book is a lot spicier but also talks about a lot more serious topics, so I advise to read the content warnings beforehand. Also, I cried a lot while reading the book and I might have cried while writing this review. Overall, this book is an absolute recommendation (so is the whole series), and I will not shut up about it any time soon. Many thanks to the author for the digital arc!!
