Wings of Reverie

To keep it short: "Wings of Reverie" unfortunately isn't as good as I hoped it to be, especially when compared to its predecessor "Wings of Starlight". → most important: The 'Periwinkle' of the book lacks the bubbly, engaging, and charming nature that made her so beloved in the movie. Her secretive behavior in the beginning felt forced and entirely out of line with her usual open relationship with her friends. → While I usually enjoy a good 'grumpy & sunshine' trope, the constant bickering here quickly turned repetitive and grating rather than charming. → The love-interest felt one-dimensional and generic. Furthermore, his initial resentment toward the main character felt entirely unfounded, making it hard to invest in their romance. → The conclusion feels rushed, leaving the plot unresolved as no one is held accountable for the harm they caused. All in all, the book suffers from a lot of unused potential. It pains me to say it, but it ultimately didn't live up to the high expectations set by its wonderful predecessor.
