"We need models of faithful Catholics in public life, people who are not afraid to step into the breach and speak courageously... [Aaron Kheriaty's] deep reading in medicine, philosophy, theology, political theory, history, and sociology, allows for his unique ability to produce interdisciplinary scholarship and commentary on the issues that matter most." (Foreword by Ryan Anderson)The Tepeyac Leadership Series provides inspiration and insights for Catholics based on contemporary models of exemplary lay Catholic leaders. Aaron Kheriaty is a Fellow and Director of the Program in Bioethics and American Democracy at the Ethics and Public Policy Center. In an engaging question-and-answer interview format, Aaron shares from his own life the surprises and challenges God had in store for him on the journey of his vocation - going from a charmed childhood in Bellingham, Washington, to the discovery of the Catholic intellectual tradition at the University of Notre Dame, to Med School and Ethics Committees, to court cases and advocating for sound public policies. Unexpected gems in this book include movie reviews through the eyes of faith, commentary on some of the most challenging topics in medicine and technology (AI, IVF, Multiplex Parenting, etc.), insights on the life cycle of leadership and Aaron's favorite prayer:"Doce me passionem Tuam" (Teach me your suffering)... try to redirect your focus on the crucified Christ rather than on our own troubles." (Aaron Kheriaty)Aaron has known suffering, but in this book, he also shows his resiliency, humor, and the reason for his joy and hope - so necessary in the world today.
