The Bone Garden

Dr Hunter is on the move again, and as usual, in big trouble right from the start. The prologue immediately reveals just how easily Simon Beckett leads the reader down the wrong path. The ambiguous plot is kept fairly brief but still offers a glimpse of just how suspenseful the story will be. The prologue gives the reader a general sense of the direction the story is heading, exactly as an introduction should. Even after six books, the author has managed to give a twist to this case. It isn’t like the investigations in Hunter’s previous cases. This makes it, in a way, unique. And on the other hand, also more challenging for the main character. I was curious to find out how Dr Hunter has changed after the break, and where he stands privately. If he has overcome his fears of the past. I think if David Hunter had to decide in which category The Bone Garden has to be catalogued, he would file it under hard to solve. Reading this book leaves me with a hopeful feeling. A hope for more to come and the wish that it doesn’t take a couple of years again until the next sequel.
