On our ranch, summer means one thing: hay.
With 10,000 acres of hay across three ranches, it comes first-sunup to sundown-leaving little time for anything else. But life doesn't wait, it goes on.
My new boyfriend, George Goodson, and I are figuring out what it means to go steady. Meanwhile, Leslie's baby, Little Lou, is fighting a losing battle with life, and my heart breaks for him. On top of that, Vi is teaching me to manage a ranch, because my grandpa may go and I'll have to, while she remodels the house and deals with skyrocketing hospital bills for Little Lou.
Mandy and I perform our rodeo comedy act and the horseback drill team rides in rodeos for fun when tax auditors show up, accusing us of fraud and money laundering. It feels like the world is closing in.
Suddenly, this summer is about more than hay-it's about facing heartbreak, responsibility, and the unexpected challenges that might change everything.
