Question: Who doesn’t want to read a campy horror story about someone trying to survive in a locked craft store while being hunted by Christian cult members? All because they’re queer and just want to make it back to their partner, who’s waiting for them at home? Me. I want to read this kind of horror! I’d been wanting to read this book for so long ever since I saw a review on Instagram. It was so worth it to get my hands on a copy and I absolutely loved it. The story is gloriously campy and relentlessly tense. I was constantly on edge while reading this story. Jenny Kiefer really knows how to describe a scene. Every moment feels vivid and frantic in the best way. I genuinely didn’t expect this level of creativity, especially when it comes to how the protagonist fights back using only what’s available inside the craft store. And no, I’m not talking about a simple knife or scissors. No spoilers, but beware of hot glue. This book is such a fun and thrilling ride. It’s especially perfect for anyone who loves crafting (to all the knitters, crocheter etc. out there) and also loves queer horror. If that sounds like you, pick up a copy and enjoy the chaos.
