A bit pretentious but great
Like the author mentions in the acknowledgements the reader has to suspend their disbeliefs for this story, because it is not realistic! A teen Art thief prodigy living a sheltered life in the shadow of his father’s grief… sounds dramatic and good but is very unlikely to happen. But that’s what I love about fiction – anything is possible and every story still has an undeniable truth at its core! At its heart Icarus is a story about difficult relationships – family, friendship and love. Being caught up in them and learning to express oneself, fight for the things you want. I really enjoyed the book. The format of writing style with short chapters makes it really fast to read. I loved the art and myth references and the general atmosphere. It feels like reading a good artsy fanfiction!
