Terror At The Gates by Scarlett St. Clair is the first book in the Blood of Lilith Series.   When I saw the first teasers of this book, I was hyped about it, and I devoured this book. It takes place in the city of Eden and it’s so dark and atmospheric. I loved the dark romantasy and mafia vibes and I already can’t wait to see more of this world. A few things were left unexplained, and this mystery only added to it. The concept that women have power, and their husbands can siphon this was very allegorical and the way this book presented themes like feminism and religious doctrine was very eye opening and so important.   This story is about Lilith and how she makes her way from the shadows. She is the epitome of female rage and being a badass because she can. Lilith is ruthless and fearless and such an amazing and strong protagonist, and I was totally rooting for her. Also, her cat Cherub was such a cute addition and sidekick.   I was intrigued by the book from the first page and couldn’t put it down. The romance was very slow burn, and my favorite part was their banter. I loved how we get to see little by little of Zahariev who is like the head of the underground world. He was a total badass as well and I love him too. And I hope we get more of his pov in the next book.   Terror at the Gates was such an amazing start of Lilith and Zahariev‘s and I’m already craving more of them and this world. 4,5 stars.   (Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for providing me with an arc.)
