The Prince and the Pauper is a novel by American author Mark Twain.
It tells the story of Edward Tudor, Prince of Wales and King Henry VIII's son and heir to his throne. He and a pauper named Tom Canty switch clothing, and everyone mistakes one of them for the other because of their identical looks, laughing at Edward's claims of being a prince. The moral lesson of "The Prince and the Pauper" by Mark Twain is that true nobility comes from within, and not from one's social status or wealth. The story teaches us that people should not be judged based on their external appearance, but rather on their character, actions, and values.
