Under the Oak Tree, Vol. 1 (Novel)

Deeply emotional, slow-burn fantasy romance. Maximillian’s journey from a traumatized, timid heroine to someone finding her footing is incredibly interesting, while Riftan’s fierce, protective devotion provides an electric tension that keeps you turning pages. It is a beautifully written, mature story about healing, trust, and love that leaves you excited for the next volume.

Honestly, I am not too sure about this book. Its been one of the view I've actually finished in recent years because the development of the main character Maxi is nice to read and the magic system is interesting, and I also like a few side characters.. but the male main character, Riftan, is VERY questionable. The intimate moments with him always lead to being in the bed, theres no romance? Or it feels like none is there. There are warnings at the beginning, but its way too much and makes no sense. Why not show affection in any other way? There were a few moments but so little he left a really sour taste in my mouth. Basically, he is a walking red flag in my eyes. I do think i'll buy the second book to see if it changes because as said the story is good.

Okay so my first impression of this book is twofold. I like the fantasy medieval vibe it has. I just finished a fantasy book about witches and wanted to stay in the mood i had afterwards. so I picked up the next book that promised that. What I don't like is Riftan. The MMC (male main character) is a walking red flag!! I really don't like him so far. I haven't finished the book yet and it seems like I won't. Tho I am hesitating to put it away. I have been told, it's only in the beginning of their relationship, but I am halfway through. So I don't know. Right now I am pausing 'Under the Oak Tree' in favor of a diffrent book. I'll update if I change my opinion.

Ich kenne die Story schon vom Webtoon und war daher sehr begeistert, als ich diese wunderschöne Edition gesehen hab. Zunächst war ich etwas skeptisch, ob es wirklich möglich wäre einen Webtoon in Buchform wiederzugeben, aber ich finde das ist hier sehr gut gelungen. Besonders toll bei der Story fand ich, dass man quasi mit Maxi mitgewachsen ist, und mit ihr zusammen unter anderem auch mehr über das Magiesystem dieser Welt gelernt hat. Man sollte jedoch auch die Trigger Warnings beachten, da besonders zu Beginn der Geschichte einige Situationen dargestellt werden, die nicht gerade einfach zu lesen sind, bspw. fehlende oder höchstens unklare Zustimmung zu intimen Geschehnissen.

Ich hatte die Geschichte bereits woanders angefangen zu lesen und begeistert, als ich die Buchform entdeckt habe. Zudem ist die Gestaltung des Buches super gelungen. es passt perfekt zur Geschichte des Buches.
