Zu Beginn war ich skeptisch, ob mir «The Ex Vows» von Jessica Joyce gefallen würde. Ihr vorheriges, viel gelobtes Buch «You, With a View» konnte mich nicht ganz überzeugen, daher war ich unsicher, ob ihr Schreibstil wirklich meins ist. Doch ich lag völlig falsch! Ich habe «The Ex Vows» regelrecht verschlungen und jede Minute davon geliebt.
Dieses Buch war genau das, was ich gerade gebraucht habe. Es bot die perfekte Mischung aus Humor und tiefgründigen Momenten—Momenten, die mich sehr berührt haben. Besonders beeindruckt hat mich, wie sehr ich mich mit Georgias Gedanken und Reaktionen identifizieren konnte. Der Konflikt, der zur Trennung von Eli und Georgia führte, fühlte sich unglaublich echt an, und Georgias Angst und Zögern wurden sehr authentisch dargestellt.
Die Spannung zwischen Eli und Georgia war spürbar und machte die Geschichte unglaublich fesselnd. Ich liebe Bücher, die einem Schmetterlinge im Bauch bescheren—und genau das hat dieses Buch geschafft. Besonders gefallen hat mir auch der Fokus auf Freundschaft und die Angst, diese Bindungen zu verlieren, wenn man weit entfernt ist.
Insgesamt entsprach dieses Buch genau meinem Geschmack, und ich bin sehr froh, dass ich es gelesen habe.
