Shocking and brilliant as always

I don't know how she does it but Holly Jackson ist just a queen of writing a good YA Crime. At the very beginning the story felt a little flat and slowpaced, but soon enough she had me HOOKED. I loved Bel and her way of "investigating" and how she uncovered her mothers story in little but heavy pieces. Her character, experience and trauma were well written and understandable. So was the story, all the details and THE RESOLUTION... I loved almost every page of it and highly recommend it to crime newbies and experienced readers.

Light Spoilers, maybe? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ When I started reading this book I was on the same side as our protagonist.. it was all too suspicious. When her mom made a mistake with telling the Story to Bel and then her father i actually went back to double check before seeing that Bel was also like "hold up." But the twist and turns this took, wow. It left me speechless at the end!

I did not expect that.

But what actually happened to Rachel, and why did she reappear all of a sudden after such a long time?  This book is a real page-turner. Every sentence makes you excited for the next. The writing style was so catchy that I literally couldn’t put this book down. All the characters have their own flaws, and you’re never sure who you can actually trust. I especially liked the plot twists, and believe me, there are A LOT OF PLOT TWISTS!
