Will the underdog Cherokees finally beat their rivals, the Creeks? That's what everyone in the small town of Pineville, Pennsylvania, wants to know as the championship game for the Bucks County Youth Baseball League approaches. The Creeks cheat, and the townspeople are hoping to see the team--and its wealthy sponsor, Conrad Beamis--brought down a peg. He pads his team with players who look much too old for the league and has had bitter run-ins with many Pineville residents. This year the Cherokees have a secret weapon: Timmy, a mysterious newcomer with an amazing arm. Nobody in the stands knows how he does it, but his pitching is out of this world! This sweet sports story shows the power of faith and friendship in the face of any obstacle. Author John Henry Hardy perfectly captures the spirit of good sportsmanship and fair play with this hilarious and heartwarming tale.
