Diary of a Void

This is a very well written novel, about a woman in corporate Japan. About living, working, experiencing and surviving. A story about gender differences and equality in the work space. And about finding happiness within a lie. "Diary of a void" is a feminist story about a woman trying to survive this male-dominated working-environment. Ms. Shibata is faking a pregnancy, with the hopes of making her corporate life more livable. She tries to make a statement about what it is like to live as a woman, no matter where in the world. This book creates the illusion that Ms. Shibata might actually be pregnant, even though that would be impossible. That way, you as the reader are always questioning her behavior and statements. So, if you like Feminist stories that are also socially critical, then you will love this book.
