"You were magnificent"!

Bewertung am 23.05.2024

Bewertungsnummer: 2207032

Bewertet: Buch (Taschenbuch)

This novel was my 5th dive into the Greek myth retelling genre. Madeline Miller is my absolute favorite, J. Saint and N. Haynes have disappointed me a little. "Medusa's Sisters" ranks very highly, though the narration in the prologue made me sceptical at first. It continually improves, impresses, immerses with its story of sisterly affection and competition, life-altering curses, death, birth - drama! What is a monster and why? And the 'cherry on top' are short, poignant poems at the start of each chapter that encompass or hint at what's ahead or behind. A world came to life, the characters and their thoughts and experiences will stay with me more than I'd anticipated going in. Beautiful and heartbreaking. Definitely worth the read!

Surprisingly pleasant

Bewertet: Buch (Taschenbuch)

A very pleasant, unexpected read that I enjoyed more than I first thought I would. The pov switches between Medusas two sisters, Medusa herself more of a side character for a good third of the story, though always present, always in her sisters minds. The three sisters are as different from each other as they could be and even though I usually don't like when the point of view switches almost very chapter I thought it was quite enjoyable here. The writing pulls you right in, pages and time flow by very quickly. I finished it in two evenings.
