Max von Oppenheim was a German lawyer, diplomat, ancient historian, and archaeologist who lived during the late 17th and early 18th centuries. He was born into the Oppenheim family, a prominent German Jewish banking dynasty. Oppenheim was a keen amateur archaeologist and ethnologist.
