Pretty good but certainly not the best of Eric Ambler. Too many sidetracks make the story somewhat confusing. Trust or distrust is a main theme and source of suspense. A journalist is in search of the girl friend of a rich Kurdi refugee in Switzerland. She flees to the South of France after he was brutally killed for political reasons. The journalist finds her and discovers that she is in possession of politically critical documents for which several people would be ready to pay huge amounts of money. They become partners in the lucrative but also dangerous attempt to sell the documents.
