Unfortunately, this was a disappointment. Which is sad, as I enjoyed (most of) the authors other stories so far and I was sure this one would follow along. It wasn’t too bad, hence the 3 stars, as I could see what she was going for but the characters just didn’t make me 'concerned' for their story. It wasn’t a bad story overall it was just told in a boring way, imo. Plus it was too long. I get that I’ll sound like a hypocrite, since I always say that I want authenticity, but I still believe that this book was at least 100 pages too long. Also, the way the blurb was written I would have liked to read more on their time filming together. It was so clear that the two MCs liked each other, so I thought that their (forced) separation seemed so flimsy and unsatisfactory. Unlike the second one in the series which felt like it was more cartoon-y, this one read a bit more serious again, yet I couldn’t connect as much with the characters as with others the author has written. I did like the discussion on fat people in media/films/etc. again and I really much enjoyed reading about Maria not sacrificing herself and wgat she stands for for two humans with limited views on what it means to be beautiful, sexy, human. Still, with how educated, open minded and self-reflective she claims to be, she should have understood how privileged she still was by being able to potentially walk away from something like this rather than holding it against Peter when he couldn’t do the same. All in all, it wasn’t a bad story but I just didn’t enjoy it as much as I would have liked.
