The Neighbor War A Romantic Comedy

„The Neigbor War“ is a closed door romantic comedy and, despite being part of a series, can be read as a stand-alone. Courtney and Aiden have had a – to put it mildly - rocky relationship ever since they first became neighbors. Now, four years later, one of their altercations goes viral, Courtney has to deal with the fallout and Aiden all of a sudden asks her to be his fake girlfriend. Ending up at a couple’s retreat, all bets are off and one is left to wonder if they’ll end up killing each other or finally bury the hatchet. There is hardly a romance trope Katie Bailey did not include in „The Neigbor War“. If you enjoy slow-burn romances, fake dating, enemies to lovers, forced proximity and/or the best friend’s brother trope, this book might be exactly what you are looking for. While I did enjoy reading this book and found the banter to be quite entertaining, „The Neigbor War“ still left me somewhat disappointed. I would have loved to see more of Courtney and Aiden’s appointments at the resort, especially the therapy and massage sessions. In my opinion, the author wasted an opportunity for hilarity and character development in largely glazing over scenes that had a lot of potential. This book is the perfect read for every romantic who is looking for something fun and diverting that does without unnecessary drama.
