Endlich haben es Lord Wrexford und Charlotte Sloane geschaftt zu heiraten und das Leben der Beiden und ihren beiden Mündeln, Raven und Hawk könnte in ruhigeres fahrwasser führen. doch natürlich kommt es anders, denn auch die feine Gesellschaft im England des Jahres 1814 hat ihre dunklen Geheimnisse. Sehr schön, wie die Autorin wieder den historischen Hintergrund um die Friedensfeierlichkeiten in London, Oxford und Royal Ascot, zu dem die Mächtigen Europas zusammenkamen mit ihrem Krimi verwebt. Und in all die Intrigen werden Wrex und Charly durch ihren Stand und die Familie im weitesten Sinne mit hineingezogen. Leider hat die Übersetzung im ersten Drittel des Buches sehr zu wünschen übrig gelassen, es gab viele Ausdruckfehler, so dass mir das Lesen da schwer fiel, daher sind es diesmal nicht 5 Sterne geworden. Daran sollte unbedingt gearbeitet werden, denn für die ansich wieder tolle Geschichte ist es schade. Die Figuren, gerade auch die der beiden Jungen, Raven und Hawk, gewinnen an Tiefe und werden dadurch deutlich mehr in den Fokus gerückt. Lange ist es nicht klar, wie es ausgehen wird, denn zusätzlich spielen alle Geheimdienste der damaligen Zeit mit hinein, so dass A. J. Quill aufzufliegen droht und das Leben aller mehr als einmal bedroht ist.
