Hearts and Bones Love Songs for Late Youth

I really enjoyed this collection of short stories from the Irish author Niamh Mulvey. As always with short stories, some I resonated more with than others - but I overall liked the writing style and the way Mulvey tells her stories a lot. Especially millenials are probably able to identify with the characters and their views on love and relationships best. This book explores what love does to us, the different forms it can occur in and how we not only survive, but find a way to deal with the aftermaths of heartbreak and sorrow. I liked how the stories take place in different places and settings: small towns in Ireland, London, at home and in pubs - and therefore explore the experiences and feeligs of all kinds of people. These stories really capture the complexity of love and all of its variations: parental love, first love, platonic love, love between siblings and family members. If you´re in the mood to try short stories but are sceptical if you like it, this book is a good start.
