    beautiful and heart wrenching

    This book is far from an easy read. The pure honesty from the author, both positive and negative, makes for a very emotional and incredibly interesting book. The end reflections allow you, with the author, to find a way of dealing with the grief.

    If you’re Asian, you might relate to this the way I did. It’s heart-wrenching and I cried many times reading this book. Definitely recommend

    I am scared for my mother

    i am wounded and i can't talk about this book :) a brutal memoir and i dare to say, if you're (still) not aware how asian parents, or any other parenting than "western"-style, treat their children, you're not ready for the honesty in this book.

    Not what I expected

    I saw the hype around this book and rushed to get it but it had too many specific korea food references and recipes and I think the story got a bit lost, even if it made me cry. Overall long and descriptive but I guess it's more relatable if you're closer to the author's ethnicity.

    Crying in H Mart - Good plot - too long

    Already during the first pages, I wanted to put the book away, but then the story finally took off and became interesting. But there are often rampages, and everything is too long for my taste. But in the end, a book is a very subjective thing. I ran aground towards the end and can't seem to want to finish it, even if a few pages are missing.

    Heartbreaking!

    A moving memoir by indie singer Michelle Zauner of Japanese Breakfast. She writes about her korean heritage and and how her mother's early death affected herself and the people around her. This memoir is about food, grief and endurance. I absolutely recommend this book! It is heartbreakingly sad, but so important.
