Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivation: Mo Dao Zu Shi (Novel) Vol. 2

The story of Lan Zhan and Wei Ying continues, and in this volume, we get even more moments where Lan Zhan’s feelings for Wei Ying really come through. There are several flashbacks to Wei Ying’s past life, which add depth and context to his character. I also loved the students of the Lan Clan – they honestly felt like the ultimate fan club for the two leads, and it made for some genuinely funny scenes. The plot around the headless corpse continues to unfold, and along the way, we’re introduced to the tragic story of Song Lan and Xiao Xichen – it is still deeply moving and heartbreaking. As with the first book, there’s a great mix of intrigue, power struggles, the undead, and just a touch of romance. I was surprised by how different the order of events is compared to the Donghua, but in a good way – it keeps things fresh even if you’ve already seen the adaptation. Also, I have to mention the illustrations – they’re absolutely beautiful. I know every Danmei novel includes some, but the art in MDZS is definitely among my favorites. Can’t wait to dive into the next volume!

Sehr Spanned kann kaum drauf warten den dritten teil zu Kaufen. Habe es sehr schnell durchgelesen, weil es so spannend war. Der Autor ist sehr talentiert.

Auch der 2. Teil der Story ist einfach nur spannend und ich konnte teilweise das Buch kaum mehr zur Seite legen. Die Suche nach den weiteren Teilen des Rätsels geht weiter und der Charakter von Jin Guangyao entwickelt sich etwas mysteriös. Die Begegnungen zwischen Wei Wuxian und Lan Zhan entwickeln sich zwar humorvoll und noch etwas sarkastisch, aber doch mit zarter Romantik weiter. Ich hoffe im 3. Teil bekommt die Lovestory noch etwas mehr Raum. Freue mich schon jetzt auf den 3. Band!
