So This Is Ever After

Das Buch hat mir wirklich sehr gut gefallen, ich habe mich von Anfang bis Ende gut unterhalten gefühlt und konnte es gar nicht abwarten zu erfahren, was als nächstes passiert. Auch finde ich den Ansatz interessant, die Geschichte nach der eigentlichen Geschichte zu erzählen. Normalerweise wird thematisiert, wie der Held es schafft, den bösen Herrscher aufzuhalten, sein Weg dahin und alle Prüfungen. Oder es wird in Rückblenden davon erzählt. In „So this is ever after“ stirbt der böse Herrscher bereits auf den ersten Seiten und es geht nicht das gesamte Buch darum, wie das erreicht wurde. Meiner Meinung nach ein sehr erfrischender Ansatz. Der Schreibstil ist sehr angenehm. Durch den unmittelbaren Anfang ist es super leicht in die Geschichte reinzukommen und man will das Buch gar nicht mehr aus der Hand legen. Ich musste viel schmunzeln und habe mich sehr gefreut, wenn vermeintlich „fortschrittliche“ Gedankengänge wie selbstverständlich (was sie sein sollten aber oftmals leider noch nicht sind) in die Geschichte eingeflochten waren, ohne groß thematisiert oder erklärt zu werden. Um nicht zu Spoilern werde ich keine Beispiele geben, lest einfach das Buch, dann werdet ihr die Aussage schon verstehen. Die Charaktere sind wirklich liebenswürdig und auch die Nebencharaktere sind gut ausgearbeitet und bekommen viel Platz. Sie sind interessant und wirken nicht wie Platzfüller. Womit wir jedoch schon bei meinen beiden Kritikpunkten wären. Die Nebencharaktere bekommen so viel Raum, dass mir die Hauptcharaktere zwischendurch etwas zu kurz gekommen sind. Außerdem wird sehr viel Zeit in den Aufbau der Geschichte investiert. Was positiv ist, weil wirklich unterhaltsam. Dafür hätte ich mir hinten raus aber noch ein paar Seiten mehr gewünscht. Meiner Ansicht nach ist das Ende dich etwas abrupt. Hierbei handelt es sich jedoch um Meckern auf hohem Niveau. Insgesamt ein wirklich tolles Buch, bei dem ich sehr auf eine Fortsetzung hoffe und das ich jedem nur wärmstens empfehlen kann.

What happens after the heroes save the realm? Arek saved the Kingdom with his party and accidentally became their new king... kind of a sweet deal, except he must marry by the time he turns 18, so in three months. Hilariously charming, “friends to lovers” at its finest.

This book helped me get out of a major reading slump. It really got me, right at the beginning and I had a hard time putting it away (if it hadn't been for work I would have probably read it in one sitting). Jumping right into the final battle at the beginning of the book and then experiencing the so called happy ever after with Arek and his companions was fun and exciting. The DnD setup was refreshing, since I hadn't read about it in this context so far and I loved all the fun and real interactions between the partymembers. This book is heavy on its romance tropes, but in a really good way. That's what it's build upon and it's really really well made. Definitely gonna check other books by F. T. Lukens, since this was my first one. Highly recommend this book to people who love fun romance tropes and funny character interactions.

A very cute and adorable lovestory between childhood-bestfriends, who first had to face the risk of death to finally admit their feelings. A lovely fantasy world full of challenges... but the group og friends only grow closer with everything they go through! Fantasy, found-family, slow-burn and a lot of fluff in one book!

Did you ever wonder what comes after "they live happily ever after"? This story begins where other stories end. The villain is defeated and the prophecy is fulfilled. And what now? Arek is king, but unfortunately, the magic law didn't give him and his friends rest. It says that if the King didn't find his soulmate to bond with until he's 18, he will disappear, aka die. But Arek only wants Matt. Matt has been his best fiend since…ever. Unluckily, it seems like he doesn't like Arek in this way. What now? Can they really live happily ever after? The story is really amusing, and even the main adventure is over…there are plenty of new adventures and challenges for the friend group. I enjoyed reading it because the characters are pretty cool, and I liked that kind of story idea after the alleged main story.
