It´s hard to believe that this is Ava Reids debut novel! This was such an interesting story with intricately designed characters and a world you could get lost in. None of Ava Reid's books has ever disappointed me, and this one was by far my favourite!

A phenomenal debut where jewish mythology meets hungarian history. A rich worldbuilding plus a fastpaced plot, make this book magical. I couldn´t stop reading. A stunning fanatasy- standalone, that bewitches you.

I expected a lot from this book and was gravely disappointed. the vibes of the book were great, witchy forrest fairytales and a slavic setting. BUT the main theme of the book was antisemitism and antipaganism, and it was clear that there had not been a sensitivity reading. enforcing harmful stereotypes about yews in a story where they are treated horribly is not cute. also, storywise, it was a lot of traveling around, back and forth and very repetitive. so all in all, could have been a good story, but wasn't. also
