Portrait

Hans Irschik  obtained his Doctoral Degree and the Habilitation in „Mechanics“ from the Vienna University of Technology. Since 1991, he worked as Full Professor of „Technical Mechanics“ at the Johannes Kepler University of Linz (JKU Linz), where he headed several peer-reviewed fundamental and applied research projects. From 1995 -2000, he served as Vice-Rector for Research, and from 2009-2013 as Chair of the Senate of JKU Linz, were he became Professor Emeritus in 2019. Hans Irschik is highly interested in both, fundamental research, and the mutual scientific transfer between industry and universities. Since 1995, he is continuously working as a Scientific Senator in the Austrian "ChristianDoppler Research Fund", which is devoted to excellence in Applied Science, and where he serves as Chair of the Senate since 2017. Hans Irschik is the author and co-author of numerous scientific publications in a broad field of mechanics and mechatronics. He is a member of the advisory board of several international scientific journals. Since 2005, he serves as Editor of the international journal “Acta Mechanica“ published by SpringerNature. In 2006, he became a Fellow of the Japanese Society for the Promotion of Sciences. In 2007 he was elected as a Corresponding Member of the Austrian Academy of Sciences (ÖAW), and in 2011 he became a Full Member of ÖAW. Since 2015, he is Member of Academia Europaea.  In 2009, he was awarded as Honorary Doctor of the St. Petersburg State University of Technology, Russia, and in the year 2019 he was elected as Foreign Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS).

Michael Krommer  holds a Ph.D. in Engineering Sciences from the Johannes Kepler University Linz (JKU), from which he also received his Habilitation in Technical Mechanics in 2007. From 1997-2014 he was teaching and conducting research at the Institute for Technical Mechanics at JKU headed by Prof. Hans Irschik; first as an Assistant Professor, then as an Associate Professor. He spent one year (2002/2003) as a MAX-KADE fellow of the Austrian Academy of Sciences at the Pennsylvania State University. From 2014-2020 he was a Full Professor for Mechanics of Solids at the Institute of Mechanics and Mechatronics at TU-Vienna. In 2020 he returned to JKU Linz succeeding Prof. Hans Irschik as Full Professor for Technical Mechanics and he joined the Symbiotic Mechatronics research center in Linz as the scientific head of the research area „Mechanics and Control“. He is the author and co-author of more than 130 publications in the field of Technical Mechanics. From 2016-2020, he also served as one of the Editors of the international journal “Acta Mechanica“ published by Springer.

Valerii P. Matveenko  got Doctoral degree majoring in “Solid Mechanics“ in 1987. In 1997 he became the corresponding member of Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS) and in 2003 he was elected to be the full member of RAS. He is a a member of the European Academy of Sciences. Currently he is Scientific Director of the Perm Federal Researcher Center Ural Branch of RAS, Director of Institute of Continuous Media Mechanics UB RAS, Head of “The Department for Dynamics and Strength of Machines” in Perm National Research Polytechnic University. From 2012 to 2020, he was a member of Congress Committee of the International Union for Theoretical and Applied Mechanics (IUTAM). He serves as Editor of the international journal “Advansed Mechanics and Modern Processes“ published by Springer, as Editor of national journal “Computational Continuum Mechanics” and as Editorial board member of 7 academic journals. V. P. Matveenko is the author and co-author of more than 230 scientific publications in English and Russian.

Alexander K. Belyaev achieved a Habilitation Degree in „Mechanics“ from the Vienna University of Technology in 1997 and Degree of Doctor of Science in „Physics and Mathematics“ in Russia in 2001. Since 2002 he is Professor at the Department of Mechanics and Control of the Peter-the-Great Polytechnic University of St. Petersburg and Professor at the Department of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics of St.Petersburg State University. He was Director of the Institute for Problems in Mechanical Engineering of the Russian Academy of Sciences in 2015-2019. Now he is a Chief Scientific Researcher and Head of the Mechatronics Laboratory of this Institute. In 2012 he was awarded an Honorary Doctor Degree (doctor honoris causa) of the Johannes Kepler University Linz, in 2016 he was elected a foreign member of the Austrian Academy of Sciences and in 2019 he was elected a corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Sciences. He is a member of the Council of the European Mechanics Society (EUROMECH) and a member of Symposia Panel of the International Union for Theoretical and Applied Mechanics (IUTAM). He is a member of the advisory board of six international scientific journals and four national scientific journals. Currently he is the Editor-in-Chief of the Journal «Vestnik of St.Petersburg University. Mathematics, Mechanics. Astronomy». He is the author and co-author of more than 280 scientific publications in English, German and Russian.
