Powerful story of four strong women, either deprived of or disappointed by men in their lives, who nevertheless help and encourage each other to find their paths and follow their dreams. I bought this book because of its appealing cover and the title and wasn't disappointed. I learned about the city, its people and I took a glimpse of its afro-american history.
