Dieser deutsch-französische Sammelband ist eine interdisziplinäre Annäherung an das Verhältnis von Körpern und Grenzen. Er untersucht historische wie gegenwärtige Grenzziehungsprozesse und nimmt dabei unterschiedliche Zusammenhänge von menschlichen Körpern in ihren Begrenzungen sowie der körperlichen Erfahrung territorialer Grenzen in den Blick. Dabei spielen deutsch-französische Gegenstände ebenso eine Rolle, wie der Rückgriff auf »deutsche« oder »französische« Theorien und Konzepte. Der erste Teil zur Überschreitung von Grenzen betrachtet ihre Materialität und den Aspekt ihrer Verletzung; folgend geht es um die Produktion von Grenzen durch körperlich-räumliche Praktiken. Von der Grenze als Praxis der Differenz handeln die Beiträge im dritten Teil; viertens und abschließend geht es um die Thematik der Grenzkontrolle und der körperlichen Disziplinierung. Die Vielfalt der Beiträge ermöglicht neue Perspektiven auf Erfahrungen von Raum und Gewalt, auch indem ganz unterschiedliche Themenfelder zusammengebracht werden, deren Zusammenstellung überraschende Erkenntnisse befördert.

This German-French volume is an interdisciplinary approach on the relation of bodies and boundaries. The contributors analyse both historical and contemporary demarcation processes. Additionally, they focus on different aspects of human bodies within their limits as well as physical experiences with territorial boundaries. Here, both German-French objects and references on “German” or “French” theories and concepts play a major role. The first part focusses on the transgression of boundaries, their materiality and aspects of their violation. The second part deals with the production of boundaries through physical-spatial practices. The third part concentrates on boundaries as practices of difference. The fourth and last part deals with the control of boundaries and physical disciplining. The various contributions enable new perspectives on experiences of space and violence. In bringing various fields together, they provide surprising insights.
