The Left-Handed Twin A Jane Whitefield Novel

„The Left-Handed Twin“ is the ninth book in the Jane Whitefield series, but can also be read as a stand-alone. For more than a decade, Jane has helped people vanish. When a young woman in danger of being killed by her ex-boyfriend appears on her doorstep, Jane knows she has to become active once more. Soon, however, some really bad people find out about what it is she’s doing and suddenly the target on her back is even bigger than the one on Sara’s. Can she outsmart those criminals twice and make it back to her husband unscathed? Going into this book, I wasn’t aware that it was part of a series. Luckily for me, it isn’t really necessary to have read the previous ones, though. Everything one needs to know about earlier installments is recapped shortly, which I really appreciate. I liked the idea of following someone helping other people disappear and the book was just as action-packed as I hoped it would be. The protagonist is really smart, observant and ressourceful and it’s quite interesting to see how her indigenous ancestry and beliefs have shaped her. However, I felt like apart from that there’s not a lot of personality that shines through. That’s probably why it was hard for me to really connect with Jane. Despite her being in constant danger, I didn’t really care about her. All in all, „The Left-Handed Twin“ is an enjoyable and fast-paced read with an interesting concept. If you enjoy thrillers with unique characters, you should definitely give this one a try.
