Endlich wieder ein neuer Wrexford und Sloane Krimi. Dieses Mal steht alles im Zeichen der bevorstehenden Hochzeit von Lord Wrexford und Charlotte Sloane. Die Vorbereitungen laufen auf Hochtouren - Kleideranproben, Einführung Charlottes in die feine Gesellschaft rund um Lord Wrexford etc.. Da stolpern bei einem Vortrag in der Royal Botanical Society beide über eine Leiche. Einer der Vortragenden liegt tot in einem Gewächshaus. Es kommt wie es kommen muss, natürlich kann weder Charlotte noch Wrexford seine Finger von dem Fall lassen. Mit allen, inzwischen gut bekannten, Figuren - vom Butler über die beiden adoptierten Jungen von Charlotte bis hin zum Läufer aus der Bowstreet - webt die Autorin einen feinen historischen, verzwickten Fall. Wird es gelingen, den Mord aufzuklären? Und wird es wirklich zu der geplanten Hochzeit kommen? Es bleibt spannend bis zum Ende des Buches. Nichts ist gewiss.
