Amazing book, amazing story, amazing author. I do recommend reading this book! If you enjoyed The Secret History, go ahead and buy These Violent Delights IMMEDIATELY!!! I bought the book because it sounded alright and it turned out to be stunning, thrilling, jaw-dropping, dark, and twisty! 5/5 !

i find the dynamic between paul and julian is so haunting, excessive and compelling. to be in the mind of these two young, traumatized and troubled teenagers that drown in eachother and the world alike, was an experience that had me on my toes for all of its 460 pages. the setting was compelling, the story and its characters intricate and evocative. if youre someone that particularly enjoys coming of age, psychological and thrilling stories this is book is for you. !! (spoiler warning: the ending in its uncertainty grabbed me so intensely, with its similarity to pauls obsession to those pretty butterflies and insects and why that matters in his perspective on and about julian. how throughout the story your perspective on who is more the perpetrator and monster shifts extensively, only to end up with even more ??!!!??! over your head.) loved it!!!

Took me a few chapters to warm up to the main characters but I could not stop reading in the end. The writing is so good and really convincing, I went through a lot of emotions while reading. A big recommendation for anyone who likes putting puzzle pieces together while enjoying personal conflict. Fans of 'If we were villains' or 'the Secret History' will like this one.

For fans of the secret history and Hitchcock, a great debut that shows how a toxic realtionship goes. The friendship spirals into something all-consuming that talks about the depths of human desire. Absolut fantastic.

that book! fantastic writing, great and interesting characters and story! great ending! read it twice, it's one if my all time favourites, it makes me go insane every time. definitely recommend
