The story follows the adventures of a Spanish nobleman named Don Medigua, who disguises himself as the bandit El Capitan to rescue his love interest, the Duchess of Algiers, from the clutches of a rival suitor. The opera is a lighthearted romp through various comedic situations, featuring lively music and dance numbers. It was well-received upon its initial performance and has since become a beloved classic of the operatic genre. This edition of the book includes the full libretto and sheet music for the opera, as well as an introduction by the composer himself. This Book Is In English. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
