Memoirs of Robert-Houdin: Ambassador, Author, and Conjurer is a book written by Jean-Eugene Robert-Houdin and published in 1859. The book is an autobiographical account of Robert-Houdin's life as a magician, author, and ambassador. Robert-Houdin was a French magician who is widely considered to be the father of modern magic. He was known for his innovative and original magic tricks, which included levitation, mind-reading, and the use of electricity. He also wrote several books on magic, including Secrets of Conjuring and Magic (1868).In Memoirs of Robert-Houdin, the author recounts his early life and how he became interested in magic. He then goes on to describe his career as a magician, including his performances in Paris and his travels to other countries. He also discusses his work as an ambassador for the French government, which involved using his magic skills to help resolve conflicts and win over foreign leaders.Throughout the book, Robert-Houdin shares his insights into the art of magic and how he developed his own unique style. He also provides detailed descriptions of some of his most famous tricks, including the ""ethereal suspension"" and the ""light and heavy chest.""Overall, Memoirs of Robert-Houdin is an engaging and informative book that provides a fascinating glimpse into the life and career of one of the most influential magicians of all time. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
