Louisa Mildmay: A Tale is a novel written by Anne Marsh-Caldwell and published in 1845. The story follows the life of Louisa Mildmay, a young woman who is forced to leave her home and family due to financial difficulties. Louisa travels to London to live with her aunt and uncle, who are wealthy and well-connected members of society. As Louisa navigates the social scene in London, she meets a variety of characters, including the charming but manipulative Lady Belmour and her brother, Lord Delmont. Louisa also becomes acquainted with a young man named Percy Greville, whom she falls in love with. However, their relationship is complicated by the interference of Lady Belmour and Lord Delmont, who have their own agendas.Throughout the novel, Louisa must navigate the complexities of love, social status, and personal integrity. She is faced with difficult choices and must learn to trust her own judgment in order to find happiness and fulfillment in her life.Overall, Louisa Mildmay: A Tale is a classic example of a Victorian novel, with its focus on social hierarchy, morality, and the struggles of young women in a patriarchal society. It is a compelling and engaging story that offers insights into the lives and experiences of women in the 19th century. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
