Packaging and Storage of Fruits and Vegetables Emerging Trends

Tanweer Alam, PhD, is the Director of Indian Institute of Packaging (IIP), Mumbai, India. Before joining IIP, he worked as teaching faculty at Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi, SHUATS, Allahabad and Jiwaji University, Gwalior, India. He has been working for more than a decade at different academic institutions and is also involved in the teaching of graduate, postgraduate, and doctoral students. His doctoral research work at the prestigious National Dairy Research Institute, Karnal, India, was based on modified atmosphere packaging of food products. He visited the University of Copenhagen, Denmark, under a faculty exchange program funded by the European Union under East-West Food Project. He has participated in INTERPACK, Dusseldorf, Germany, and attended the award ceremony of WPO. He performed on the jury for Asia Star and World Star awards. Dr. Alam has organized several national and international conferences and workshops for promoting the packaging industry. He has published several research and technical articles in high-impact refereed journals and has delivered invited lectures both in India and abroad. He has also contributed more than 15 book chapters and also edited dozens of proceedings and technical souvenirs. He is Associate Editor of the Asian Journal of Dairy Science and Journal of Postharvest Technology and the Managing Editor of the Journal of Packaging Technology and Research and is on the editorial board of the magazine Processed Food Industry. He is a life member of several scientific and academic associations.
