epic conclusion

Bewertet: Buch (Taschenbuch)

"Every time I think there's no lower our world can sink, we all plunge deeper." The final book in the Daevabad Trilogy makes for an epic finale and might just be my favourite in the series. As always, the worldbuilding was so well thought out and vividly described, it was just so fun to get lost in this magical world. This book will definitely take you on an adventure with some of the most rounded characters ever. And that is probably my favourite part about Chakraborty's writing - how nuanced and broad her spectrum of characters is. You really understand how politics, religion, family and history shaped all these people differently and how different people can have different reasons to fight for the same cause. Even when you don’t agree with their convictions you get to understand how they got there and that very few people are ever thinking in black and white because there's always a situation that'll put you very much in the grey zone and make you act differently than you ever thought you would. "I want to fix this and maybe one day see a world where it's normal to pick sides based on what's right rather than on whose family we belong to." I also loved seeing how the mcs relationships developed and if you like a good romantic subplot that might just be the slowest slow burn ever, this book is definitely for you! I also loved how this showed that you can still have love for people who think and act against your values. It makes for such an interesting dynamic when certain characters have to decide between the people they love and what they think is the right thing to do. "You're a good friend. Probably the best one I've ever had." She hardened her voice. "But if you tell anyone I cried, I'll kill you." "Find your happiness, little thief. Steal it and do not ever let it go." "Are you okay?" Ali murmured. "No," she confessed. "But I think there's a chance I might be one day, so that's progress."

Can't get over it

So it has been a while since I finished reading this and man I am still not over the ending, as wonderful as it is. It took me several weeks to finish this book -which is very unusual for me- but I had to put it down after a few chapters to process this book. After the previous 2 books I have gotten quite attached to the characters so it was very heartbreaking at some points of the book. I highly recommend this book as well as the previous 2 if you are willing to read a bit more than just some easy romance story. I really loved this book and am sad as it is the ending of this amazingly executed trilogy.
