Ich konnte noch nie gut erklären warum, aber Gedichte entspannen mich. Was an diesem Buch nochmal zusätzlich gut ist, sind die Bilder, die sie selbst fotografiert hat. Wenn man sich die Situationen zusammen mit den Gedichten vorstellt, fühlen sich diese nochmal emotionaler an. auch, dass man am Ende die Möglichleit bekommt, selbst poetische Gedanken niederzuschreiben, spricht für das Buch.

If you want to read a book that feels like listening to a Lana del Rey song – this is it. Her first collection of poems „Violet Bent Backwards Over the Grass“ touches on the same topics as her music does. Although I have always adored her style of songwriting, her talent with words has never been more clear to me than with these poems. Lana del Rey gives you the chance to join her on her journey through happiness, hope, wanderlust but also discontent and being torn between coasts. While reading, you will find many references to California – which are accompanied by her personal photos. This atmospheric style teleports you to a sunny day in L.A, which of course fits the entire vibe of the book. Some of the poems feel like she’s just rambling, but at the same time it’s obvious that she chooses her words very carefully and neatly. You can also really see her thought process in her handwritten corrections, which gives the entire experience of reading this book such an authentic touch. This is a must-read for every Lana del Rey fan and for every poetry lover who wants to take a dip into a new writing style.
