The best book of Alice Feeney imho

Bewertung am 10.05.2026

Bewertungsnummer: 3134484

Bewertet: Buch (Taschenbuch)

I am a big fan of Alice 's pieces of work, and this book was my absolute favourite one. I read it just after I had watched the series on Netflix, but it didn't influence my perception of the story, on the contrary, it helped me to visualise all the characters.

Of Lies Told and Secrets Kept

Bewertet: Buch (Taschenbuch)

„There are at least two sides to every story: Yours and mine. Ours and theirs. His and hers. Which means someone is always lying.“ Anna Andrews has lost a lot in the past but finally has almost everything she wants. She worked hard to become a news anchor, putting the job above everything else. When someone threatens to take it from her, she does not intend to go down quietly. But then she’s asked to cover a murder back in her hometown and it quickly becomes apparent that she isn’t just there to report about it. After leaving London to live in Blackdown, DCI Jack Haper never expected to have to deal with a murder investigation ever again. Least of all in a town this picturesque and small. What he expected even less was to find himself becoming the prime suspect in his own investigation. Going into this book, I never expected it to rattle me quite as much as it ended up doing. The story is mainly told from two POVs, Anna’s and Jack’s. At times the murderer themselves voices their thoughts, but it seems pretty apparent from the start who that is. That’s why I expected the book to stay as slow-paced throughout its entirety as it starts off. Boy, was I wrong! After a time, I began doubting my first assessment regarding the perpetrator and soon after that I started suspecting everyone. I did not know who I could trust anymore, if anybody at all. I was positively hooked, unable to put down the book and growing quite anxious, which I consider quite the feat on the author’s part. The last seventy or so pages had me on the edge of my seat, my pulse racing and me yelling at the characters for different reasons more than just once. Then came the reveal…I don’t want to spoil anything, but let me just say that even after having suspected every single character to be the bad guy I am still speechless. Speaking of characters, I absolutely love how we slowly learn more and more about Anna’s and Jack’s pasts, the events that shaped them and the people they’ve become because of it. Even though, I was not sure how much could be believed, I still wanted to get to know them better and the author definitely delivered on that front as well. „His & Hers“ by Alice Feeney is a thrilling masterpiece that chilled me to the core. It truly is one of the best thrillers I’ve ever read. It’s well-crafted, highly suspenseful and makes you question everyone and everything. Don’t let that slow beginning fool you. Highly recommended!
