Eine ungewöhnliche aber interessante Geschichte. Mir kam es so vor, als weiß Newland Archer zwar, was er will, aber es fehlt ihm der Mut, seine Ziele zu verfolgen. Die Gesellschaft ist so starr in ihren Traditionen, dass Neuerungen völlig undenkbar sind. Einfach nur, weil es schon immer so war. Und dann die neue Generation, die das totale Gegenteil davon ist. Wahrscheinlich ist es schwierig, offen für Neues zu sein, wenn man nie etwas anderes gekannt hat. Das Buch hat sich gut lesen lassen, hat aber sogar für einen Klassiker wenig Handlung.
