A Lover's Discourse
One of my favourite books I've read this year! Xiaolu Guo's words instantly captivated me. I was so immersed in her poetic writing I couldn't stop reading. I really liked how she included different languages in her novel, Chinese as well as German. The main character is a chinese women immigrating to post-Brexit London, where she finds love in a german-australian man. She includes words and sentences from both of their Muttersprachen. The story may be very simple, but the writing definitely makes up for it.
